The Importance of Link Placement on Webpages

One of the fastest ways to lose visitors from your website is by having confusing navigation links on your webpages.  After all, you want to do everything you can to convert your visitors to customers, and having a site with poor link placement makes that difficult.

In today's internet world, people have been conditioned to look for internal links in certain designated areas of your website.  If the links are not there and need to be located, you stand a good chance of losing your visitor.

There are generally two different types of internal links on a webpage.  Here are two tips for placing links on your webpage:

1.  The standard page links such as Home Page, Contact Us, Products, etc. are usually listed cross the top of the page, under the Title or Logo.  You can sometimes find these links (or additional links) listed across the bottom of the webpage.

2.  Internal links to other pages of the website are usually listed at the top left side of the webpage.  They should be set aside from the rest of the content on the page.

By the way, here's another tip. It's also a good idea to keep your links in blue.  While you may think use of another color is a creative thing, blue is a tried-and-true color and your visitors' eyes will be looking for links in blue.

Following this link placement strategy will provide your visitors with a site that is easy to navigate and peruse. And that increases your chance of converting your visitor to a buyer!
