There are three very common web site title errors people make that can be very costly. It's hard to believe how many people do not take advantage of all of the easy tools available to them to improve their search engine placement. The first major error is having no title on a web site at all. I find it amazing how many sites I visit that don't have a title. The title is one of the major items that search engines use to determine what keywords to list a site under. With no title, the web site owner is missing one of the best opportunities to get their keywords listed in the search engines. The second mistake is using only a company name. Unless the company is well know, like Microsoft or Ford, chances are the company name is not what people will use in their search. Yes, the company name in the title is OK but also include a couple of keywords. And the third most common error is using the same site title (which is probably the company name) on every page of a site. By using a different, unique title for each page, a site can get listed in the search engines for more keywords. Make sure that the page content is very relevant to those keywords. Be sure to take advantage of all of the tools available for improving search engine placement. All of these items, title, keywords, relevant content will result in better search engine placement. |
