| Community Online Groups Gone Wild! |
|
Have you found your home on web 2.0? There is a new innovation coming out this week that I believe will revolutionize the web. An online community group of communities that is family friendly and member driven.
The internet has become so cluttered with everybody and there brother trying to develop a "community". From the early days of MySpace and what was that other one oh yeah Friendster. Anybody remember that one, I think it came right after DOS or something like that. O.K. time to get serious. I think after the deals with Murdock and MySpace and then Markie Z of Facebook and the faceoff with Microsoft and the 240 million deal he made for a whopping 1.6% that things went nuts. Now we have literally thousands and more showing up every day. Some are downright funny. Some time back I was in the energy drink business so I checked out the competition and guess what Monster was up to and yep you guessed it they have built a community around a energy drink. Oh, and by the way they are called "troops". Well, I got curious and lo and behold everyone out there is into it. They even have built online communities around T.V. shows. There is even a social network for folks over fifty. You actually have to be over fifty to be a member. It's call Eons. Yuck! I'm fifty two but that name just makes me feel old. If you go to any of the major networks there is a separate community around every show including game shows! So what is my point? The world of web2.0 has allowed this phenomenon but I'd like to ask YOU. Are connected to a online community where you are happy? Or are you like I was for so long. A drifter, a gypsy, drifting from place to place trying to find my place in the sun. I'm glad a friend of mine recently told me about Cagora. The name comes from the Greek word agora which means marketplace and the "C" stands for community. I believe they are going to fill a real gap in the world of web 2.0 by being a one stop spot where you can gossip, buy and sell, get information from all quarters of the internet, and be in online groups that are exclusive. In other words at Cagora there is only one group for "dogs" and one group or spot for "cars". They are officially launching this week and I will be exploring this elephant over the next several weeks. |
