Developing a Website? - Dont Miss the Target Audience

Most of the web designers">web designers and developers and even the clients hiring these services focus on what should be displayed on the website. However, the irony is that along with additions of the significant features to the web pages, an equally strong attention should be paid on the removal of the unwanted and obsolete features. It is like when you manure a field, focus on removal of the weeds too! So, when you develop or get a website developed, then along with the 'haves' on the site, pay attention to the 'have nots' also. It will give a balanced picture of the website to the net surfers.

Home Page

Keep the net surfers' interests in your mind. It is they who are to be converted into potential customers. Most of the websites aim at generating and maintaining the market. These potential customers visit the website to know about the products and not about you unless you happen to be a celebrity. So, placing a photograph of yours on the home page would definitely belong to the 'have nots' on the website.

Graphics

Though graphics are a good idea to catch the net surfers' attention or make the website attractive to them, but many of the graphics, diagrams, charts, pictures and photographs would make the visitors feel that they are wasting their time. This of course, makes them think that the website is less of a site and more of an album full of photographs.

Just imagine what the reader would feel if a book just displays the graphic without explaining the theory the graphic is based on. Similarly, if the website displays only pictures and no details, the visitor to the site is bound to think that his/her downloading the site was futile. However, do insert a graphic or two wherever genuinely required.

Videos

Similar to the graphics, time consuming videos may also deter the visitor to visit the complete website. As a result, he may not get to know the prominent details about the product. It would fail to generate the market or even to maintain the already gained one. The videos should be integrated in the site only when it is necessary to do so.

Keep the Website User Friendly

Remember you are putting the website on the net for the sake of the visitor. So keep it user friendly. The visitor should not find it difficult to explore the website, otherwise next time he would think twice before visiting the same site again.

Also keep the language used on your website easy and simple. It should be easily understood by the user. Do not use jargons. Moreover, the menus should be simple making the navigation easy for the visitor.

Further, keep updating your website from time to time. The information should not only be up-to-date, but also available easily at the click of the mouse. When the visitor clicks his mouse, it should be the web page that should open rather than the error message that the page cannot be displayed or is under repair. If there are any bad links, replace them with the functioning ones at the earliest possible.

Remember nobody likes a tedious job. So make it easy for the visitor. After all, it is going to effect your business. By helping the visitor to the website, you will help your business to grow.

Do Not Exaggerate

Self praise does not win anything. Of course, present all the plus points of your business, but do not exaggerate. It will not win you any customers. On the contrary, they may get bored and start downloading another website.
